HN Biology

Honors Biology is open to students who wish to undertake a contextualized approach to the study of biology. Biological concepts are taught through real world topics such as sustainability, watersheds, lactose intolerance, cystic fibrosis, evolution, addiction, and cancer. At the conclusion of most units a project will be completed in addition to a traditional test.
Students that are successful in Honors Biology are able to read critically, are organized with good work ethic, and are independently-motivated with good study skills. This course is a combination of teacher-led instruction and student driven investigation with little to no time devoted to in class repetitive practice. In addition to assignments, students are expected to study on a nightly basis and create their own study guides outside of the classroom. Laboratory work is utilized to stimulate, enhance, and promote critical thinking skills.
