AP Chemistry

This course is designed to be the equivalent of the General Chemistry courses taken during the first year of college. It will also prepare the student to take and pass the AP Chemistry Examination. The topics included in detail are: the structure of matter, which includes atomic theory and structure, chemical bonding, and nuclear chemistry, states of matter including gases, liquids, solids, and solutions, reactions, which include reaction types, stoichiometry, equilibrium, kinetics, and thermodynamics, descriptive chemistry to include chemical reactivity and products of chemical reactions, relationships in the periodic table, and an introduction to organic chemistry. In addition, an AP Chemistry laboratory program will be included.
