MYP Geometry

The logical and conceptual precursors to proof are developed early in Geometry. Topics will include, but are not limited to, fundamental geometric thought, geometric shapes, transformations, and basic geometric reasoning and proofs. Concentrated work with proof writing continues throughout the year, including direct and indirect proofs in both plane and coordinate geometry. Properties and attributes of polygons and circles are emphasized. Solid geometry, right triangle trigonometry, and transformations are introduced second semester. MYP instruction will emphasize IB principles such as global contexts, Approaches to Learning, international mindedness, the Learner Profile, and development of skills for lifelong learning.
